The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 12 years old is created from a trinity of spirits, matured individually in European sherry seasoned oak casks, American sherry seasoned oak casks and American ex-bourbon oak casks. Once filled, the maturing spirit remains undisturbed in the same casks for 12 years - after which this complex combination of casks is exquisitely and expertly married together to create this vibrant Single Malt.

The nose is complex, with hints of vanilla, melon and lemon zest. The palate is medium balanced with lemon citrus, vanilla, light toasted oak and nutmeg. A lingering finish with melon, papaya, fresh oak and oak spice.

Rich golden amber with a warm, sun-kissed glow and a subtle coppery undertone

Nose

Complex and inviting, the nose opens with vanilla sweetness, bright melon and lemon zest, lightly threaded with fresh oak.

Palate

Medium-balanced and elegantly poised, the palate delivers lemon citrus with creamy vanilla, light toasted oak and nutmeg. A lingering finish echoes melon and papaya, guided by fresh oak and oak spice.

Finish

An extended finish of melon and papaya, carried by fresh oak and a touch of oak spice, lingering with refined warmth.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
