Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich golden amber with a warm honey-copper glow.

Nose

Warm vanilla and toffee from seasoned oak mingle with sherry-rich sweetness. Dried fruits—raisins and orange rind—rise with cinnamon, ginger and cocoa, while hints of apple and pear add a bright orchard lift.

Palate

Silky and medium-full, this Macallan doubles the delight with a creamy vanilla core balanced by sherry-influenced sweetness. On the palate, dried orange and raisin mingle with toffee, caramel and spice, while cinnamon and nutmeg lace through cocoa-tinged oak. The finish is warm and lingering, refined by elegant oak and a touch of citrus zest.

Finish

Silky and long, the finish delivers warm vanilla and toffee, brightened by orange zest. Spices rise—cinnamon and nutmeg—over a subtle sherry sweetness, with refined oak that lingers, tapering to a creamy, honeyed warmth.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
