New for christmas 2018 The Macallan Triple Cask 12 year old is presented with a beautiful limited edition gift tin, a luxurious gift for any whisky fan.

As the name suggests this is aged in three types of wood (European and American Sherry seasoned oak and Ex-Bourbon American oak) and more in style with the old "Fine oak" range.

Colour

Rich golden amber with a warm coppery glow and honeyed highlights.

Nose

A complex bouquet of vanilla, melon and lemon zest, bright and inviting on the nose.

Palate

Medium-bodied and well balanced, the palate delivers bright lemon citrus with creamy vanilla, edged by light toasted oak and a gentle kiss of nutmeg.

Finish

A lingering tropical finish where melon and papaya fade into warm, fresh oak and oak spice, leaving a soft vanilla-touched echo.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
