The Macallan Speymalt Single Malt Scotch Whisky 9 Year Old · 2003 Vintage
Out of stock
Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a copper-gold glow and a subtle ruby sheen, evoking sunlit caramel and aged sherry in the glass.
Nose
Opulent and orchard-fresh, orange zest and dried fruits rise from a bed of polished oak. Caramel, toffee, and fig mingle with sultana and a whisper of dark chocolate, while cinnamon and nutmeg warm the perfume. A delicate sherried richness threads through, elegant and inviting.
Palate
Silky and medium-bodied, this Speymalt carries a delicate sherried sweetness on the palate. Dried fig and orange zest mingle with toffee and vanilla, while notes of cinnamon and nutmeg add subtle spice. The oak remains integrated, delivering a creamy, warming texture that fades to chocolatey, lingering spice.
Finish
Silky and persistent, the finish unfolds with cinnamon and clove spice over dusky sherried sweetness. Raisin and orange zest drift through the oak, ending in a warm, mouthwatering length that fans into cocoa-nib and toasted barley. Elegant and refined, it lingers with vanilla and polished timber at the close.
