Tasting Notes

Nose

Fresh orchard fruit and honey rise from the glass, carried on a veil of creamy vanilla and light malt. A gentle sherry lift brings dried fruit, toasted almond, and a whisper of oak, with citrus zest adding a bright, inviting finish.

Palate

Silky and balanced, the palate reveals ripe dried fruit, maple toffee and vanilla custard, with sherry-soaked richness. Cherry, prune and a whisper of cocoa mingle with oak spice, delivering nuanced sweetness. Medium-bodied and creamy, it finishes with a lingering, nutty finale and a ribbon of gentle spice.

Finish

Medium-long and smoothly warming, the finish unfurls with sherried dark fruit, raisin and fig, layered over creamy oak. Spices—cinnamon and a whisper of nutmeg—linger with subtle espresso-toned cocoa, tapering to a soft, nutty glow.

Tamnavulin
(Tam-na-VOO-lin) Tamnavulin opened in 1966 in the village of Tomnavoulin, beside the River Livet in the foothills of the Cairngorms. The purpose-built distillery stands on the site of a 16th-century carding mill, and the old wooden water wheel still appears on the brand’s bottles. After closing in 1995 during the industry downturn, the distillery reopened for testing in 2000, underwent a major refurbishment in 2007, and changed the shape of its stills in 2010.
