Colour

Golden honey with a warm, sunlit amber glow.

Nose

Briny sea air and mineral notes lift the nose, sparkling with lemon zest and crisp green apple. Subtle vanilla, honeyed barley, and a touch of oak weave a coastal, elegant sweetness.

Palate

Briny coastal notes greet the tongue—sea-salt and lemon zest with a gentle pepper. Apples and pears unfold, layered with vanilla, toffee and a whisper of dried fruit from sherry cask influence. Medium-bodied, clean and slightly mineral, with a delicate oak lift that carries into a crisp, lingering finish.

Finish

Long, maritime finish with sea-salt brightness and citrus zest, unfolding into honeyed vanilla and creamy malt. A gentle oak spice lingers, leaving a subtly dry, coastal echo.

Old Pulteney
(Old PULT-nee) Old Pulteney was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in Wick, during the height of the town’s herring boom, and for a time it was the most northerly distillery on mainland Scotland. Its history includes a long silent period after Wick voted to go dry under the Temperance Act: the distillery closed in 1930, prohibition in the town ended in 1947, and production eventually resumed in 1951. Later milestones include a major refurbishment in 1958, Inver House Distillers taking ownership in 1995, and the release of the now-iconic Old Pulteney 12 Year Old in 1997.
