Tasting Notes

Colour

Warm amber-gold with a honeyed sheen and copper undertones, hinting at sherried depth.

Nose

Coastal sea air and malt lift a bright orchard, with ripe pear and green apple softened by honeyed sweetness, a trace of vanilla oak and a whisper of citrus zest.

Palate

Slumbering for a full decade, this beguiling spirit reveals a lingering palate of sweet pear and crushed apples, laced with maple syrup and honey, then caramel, soft liquorice and roasted coffee beans.

Finish

Long, lingering finish of pear and apple sweetness, with maple syrup, honey and caramel giving way to soft liquorice and roasted coffee beans.

Jura
(isle-o’-JEW-ra) Jura was founded in 1810 by Archibald Campbell, Laird of Jura, and was originally known as Small Isles Distillery. The island’s name is widely traced to Old Norse for “deer island”, with red deer still far outnumbering the human residents. The distillery was officially licensed in 1831, later passed to James Ferguson & Sons, and closed in 1901 before remaining silent for more than six decades.
