‘Mr George’, as he was fondly known by those who knew him best, was Mr George Urquhart, second generation of the family that owns Gordon & MacPhail. A true pioneer, Mr George was instrumental to the success of Scotch whisky, particularly single malts.

Mr George travelled widely, keen to showcase single malts from distilleries all over Scotland, matured in his own casks. This exceptional whisky is a fitting tribute to his pioneering spirit.

Colour

Deep amber with coppery highlights and a mahogany edge.

Nose

Soft beeswax polish opens the aroma, unfolding into stewed fruit and toasted hazelnuts, with subtle orange peel lingering beside a warm note of ginger.

Palate

Autumnal spice and ripe plum flavours mingle with subtle blackcurrant undertones. Treacle comes to the fore, complemented by a gentle hint of fresh mint.

Finish

A full-bodied, long finish where fruit and spice linger, with a delicate kiss of bonfire embers.

Glen Grant
(Glen-GRANT) Glen Grant was founded in Rothes in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, and from the start it built a reputation around innovation as much as whisky. The Grants were involved in the development of the Morayshire Railway Company, helping improve transport through Speyside, and by 1861 Glen Grant had introduced electric lighting. A defining new chapter began in 1872, when James “The Major” Grant took over and expanded the distillery, introducing tall, slender stills and water-cooling purifiers that remain central to the distillery’s lighter, more elegant style.
