Foursquare Détente is the fourteenth release in the Exceptional Cask Selection series and was bottled in 2020 at 10 years old and 51% ABV. It is a single blended rum from Barbados, combining distillates from Foursquare’s pot and column stills, with maturation in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-port casks. One component was aged entirely in ex-bourbon casks for 10 years, while another spent 4 years in ex-bourbon before a further 6 years in ex-port casks.

Foursquare Rum Distillery was established in 1996 in St Philip, Barbados, by the Seale family, whose wider business, R.L. Seale & Co., dates back to 1926. The distillery was built on the site of a former sugar factory, which gives it a stronger historical connection than its modern founding date might suggest, and it remains a fourth-generation Barbadian family business under Richard Seale.
