Aged for 54 years, The Singleton Paragon of Time No.2 celebrates a precious oak butt cask that was slowly hand-filled on October 31st, 1966 and sealed in time, destined to become The Singleton’s oldest ever release. Finally, it was then given an exquisite final maturation using a Pedro-Ximenez Sherry-seasoned cask – a last act of mastery in the pursuit of true richness that only time, skill and patience can achieve.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Dense, evening-amber with mahogany edges and a warm copper-gold core.

Nose

Mellow and dry, with a richly winey top note reminiscent of a vintage solera filling the room. Subtle maraschino cherry and wax polish waft over a dusty base of waxed cotton, hemp rope, and hessian sacks. A touch of bitterness threads the sweet fruit, and a drop of water unveils a mint-toffee lift.

Palate

Delicate in texture at natural strength, light on its feet yet lively for its great age. Sweet at first, it quickly unfurls into warming spice—reminiscent of Christmas pudding with clove-studded oranges. A bittersweet whisper of burnt raisins grounds the sweetness, leaving a refined, drying finish.

Finish

Long, pleasantly warming and elegantly drying, with a light yet spicy sweetness that lingers in a warm glow. A drop of water lifts the fruit and sharpens the finale.

(DUFF-town) Dufftown is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery in the town of Dufftown, Moray. It was founded in 1895 as Dufftown-Glenlivet in a converted meal mill, with production beginning in 1896. Mackenzie & Co acquired the distillery shortly afterwards, and Arthur Bell & Sons later bought Dufftown in 1933, making its spirit an important part of Bell’s blended Scotch whisky.
