Carsebridge (silent) Murray McDavid Select Grain Single Cask #38243 Whisky 46 Year Old · 1970 Vintage
Out of stock
This rare, 46 year old Carsebridge single grain Scotch whisky was bottled by Murray McDavid as part of the Select Grain range. This distillery (which sadly closed in 1983) would have produced a wide variety of grain whisky. Aged from 1970 to 2017, bottled at 40.9% ABV and non-chill filtered, it represents an excellent opportunity to taste a classic whisky from a closed distillery.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery glints and a warm, honeyed glow.
Nose
An opulent, aged nose of polished oak and vanilla, ribbons of toffee and caramel unfurling into dried fruits—fig, raisin, and date—while almond paste and hazelnut lend a nutty richness. Subtle sherry influence threads through, bringing gentle spice, cocoa, and a whisper of orange zest, all wrapped in a silky, enduring aroma.
Palate
Silky, unctuous on the palate, this 46-year-old Carsebridge delivers honeyed vanilla, creamy toffee and polished oak. Layers of almond, citrus zest and dried fruit unfold with restrained spice, carried by a smooth, full-bodied mouthfeel. The finish is long and contemplative, with gentle warmth and a lingering softness.
Finish
Silky, long finish with vanilla cream, honeyed toffee and almond, edged by warm oak spice. A subtle sherry-inflected fruit echo lingers, fading to a refined, lasting sweetness.
