About Torabhaig
(Tor-ah-vague) Only the second ever licensed Single Malt Scotch Whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye, only 200 years in the waiting until 2020 resulted in the first single malt whisky produced by Torabhaig distillery. After a painstaking 4 year restoration and build, Torabhaig has been fully operational since January 2017. The distillery was built on the old farmstead at Torabhaig, identified as the perfect location for a small, traditional distillery with the huge added bonus of the purest island spring water available just on its doorstep.
Torabhaig produces a heavily peated single malt with smoky, fruity and maritime notes. Peat sits at the centre of Torabhaig’s identity, with the distillery describing its house style as “smoke with taste”. Neil Macleod Mathieson leads whisky making, and the early releases have been used to chart the development of that style while the distillery works towards its first 10-year-old whisky.
