Its home is a restored 18th-century steadings, where the team creates spirits inspired by the islands’ landscape, community and long relationship with both land and sea.
The distillery is best known for Downpour, a collection of bold Hebridean spirits that includes Scottish Dry Gin, Pink Grapefruit Gin, Coast & Croft Gin, Sloe & Bramble Gin and Hebridean Spiced Rum. Local ingredients such as wild heather, croft-grown thyme, pepper dulse seaweed and Uist brambles help give the range its distinctive island character. North Uist Distillery is also developing its own single malt whisky, using heritage bere barley grown by local crofters and matured on the island to create a fully traceable expression of its Hebridean home.
