About Cardhu
(car-DOO) Cardhu is one of the oldest distilleries on Speyside. In its early days, Cardow/Cardhu was synonymous with the role of women in distilling; it is suggested that the Cardow farmer's wife, Helen Cumming was in charge of distillation in the early, unlicensed days of production.
The distillery was sold to John Walker & Sons in 1893, who expanded it twice, with spirit becoming a key component in Johnnie Walker brands and Cardhu is promoted as the Home of Johnnie Walker. 2018 saw major investment in the distillery as part of Diageo's Four Corners programme with a vastly improved visitor centre which emphasises the role of the Cummings in the birth of the distillery. Cardhu single malt is known for its light, fruity and floral style.
