About Aberlour
(aber-LOW-er) Right in the centre of Aberlour village next to the banks of the Lour Burn the Aberlour distillery sits. In Gaelic Aberlour means “Mouth of the chattering burn”. Sadly in 1898 most of the Aberlour distillery was destroyed by a fire, however this led to the distillery being rebuilt and improvements made in the 1920s, after the second World War, the 1960s and also during the 1970s.
The village of Aberlour is notable for a very long main street and the superb Mash Tun inn. The distillery is sited at one end of the main street and Walkers shortbread at the other. Aberlour has released series of cask strength, Sherry cask Whiskies under the A'bunadh sub-brand.
