Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and mahogany undertones, a warm, festive glow.

Nose

Sherry-cask richness floods the nose with dark fruit—raisin, fig and plum—alongside toasted almond, cocoa and caramel. Subtle orange zest, vanilla and warm spice (cinnamon, clove) ride on polished oak, finishing with a refined, nutty toffee kiss.

Palate

Silky and generous on the palate, this 8-year-old Bell’s carries sherry-warmed richness. Dried figs, raisins and prunes mingle with toffee, caramel and dark chocolate. Orange zest ignites a spice blend of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, all wrapped in toasted oak. Creamy, medium-full body with balanced sweetness and a hint of oak perfume.

Finish

Long, warming finish of dark fruit and fig, lifted by cocoa, toasted almond and a whisper of sherry sweetness. Spiced oak lingers gracefully, delivering a velvety, festively warm finale that invites the next sip.

Bell’s traces its roots to Arthur Bell, a Perth wine and spirits merchant who began vatting malt whiskies together in 1851 to create a more consistent blended Scotch. The “Extra Special” trademark was registered in 1895 and later appeared with the Bell’s name in 1904, becoming the basis of the long-running Bell’s blend. Blair Athol, founded in 1798, became closely tied to the brand after Arthur Bell & Sons acquired the distillery in 1933.
