The Macallan Speymalt Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 58 Year Old · 1950 Vintage
Out of stock
Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.
Somebody should give Gordon and Macphail a medal for allowing the world to sample a 1950's Macallan for this price! Complete with a certificate of authenticity and nice wooden presentation box.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery mahogany undertones and a warm, sunlit old-gold glow.
Nose
Opulent sherried bouquet of dried figs, raisins and dates, brightened by orange marmalade and dark toffee. Deep oak with toasted almond, clove and cinnamon folds into leather, cedar and a whisper of espresso—an elegant, time-honed aroma that lingers like a well-kept library.
Palate
Silky and opulent on the palate, a mature tapestry of raisin, fig and orange marmalade, layered with treacle and dark chocolate. Rich sherry-soaked fruit is complemented by roasted coffee, vanilla and a lift of spice—cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. The oak is perfectly integrated, delivering a long, warm, refined finish that lingers with elegant authority.
Finish
An expansive, velvety finish that lingers with restrained grandeur: dried fig and orange zest mingle with refined oak, while dark chocolate, leather and walnut threads weave complexity. A delicate sherry sweetness persists, fading to a warm, elegant glow that sustains the memory of this 1950 Macallan.
