Colour

Rich golden amber with warm honey hues and a subtle copper glow.

Nose

Macallan's signature sherry aroma: rich dried orange peel and dark raisins, braided with vanilla, toffee and cinnamon. Toasted oak and almond weave through, with a hint of cocoa on the finish.

Palate

Silky and generous on the palate, it unfurls with ripe dried fruits, orange zest, toffee and creamy vanilla, wrapped in warm oak. Sherried sweetness broadens to almond and spice, finishing velvety with cocoa notes and a gentle oak warmth.

Finish

Long and warming, the finish unfolds with sherry-laden sweetness—raisin, fig and toffee—woven with vanilla and spice, tapering to polished oak and a dry, nutty warmth.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
