Bottled by Thompson Bros this Royal Brackla was distilled in 2014 and bottled at 12 years old from two first fill bourbon hogsheads. Bottled at 55.5% ABV, with an outturn of 606 bottles, it offers a bright but characterful take on the distillery’s Highland style, with the first fill bourbon wood adding plenty of sweetness, texture and freshness.

Colour
Bright golden amber with honey-rich, sunlit warmth.
Nose
Geuze-like tang on the nose, with rich Muscovado sugar, zesty key lime pie and shelled pistachios—a bright, textured aroma that hints at sweetness and dimensional depth to come.
Palate
Thick honey coats the palate, framed by flaked almonds and bright citrus. Substantial new oak and a kiss of California Chardonnay add creaminess and depth, while a savoury doughy undertone sits beneath the sweetness, lending structure and a textural, lingering finish.
Finish
Clean and lightly sweet, the finish lingers with tropical brightness—starfruit and juicy papaya dancing on the palate, leaving a fresh, fruit-forward finale.
