Maker's 46 is the first new Makers Mark recipe for around 50 years and is named for the number of different versions they tried before getting it just right. It is part matured in casks containing a 'ladder' of toasted new French oak barrel staves which they say gives it more spice, sweetness and additional vanilla notes.

Notes of custard and almond mingle with cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, while a delicate citrus zest keeps the sweetness lively. The bouquet is polished, invitingly fragrant with the restrained richness of a focused bourbon finish.
Palate
Silky and full on the palate, this bourbon layers vanilla cream with caramel sweetness and a bright backbone of baking spice from the French oak staves. Toasted almond and toffee mingle with hints of dried fruit, while cinnamon and clove accent a warm, toasted-oak finish. Balanced sweetness lingers with honeyed warmth and refined oak spice.

Silky, enduring finish with vanilla sweetness and caramel, carried by toasted French oak spice—cinnamon and clove with a whisper of pepper—leaving a warm, lingering glow on the palate.
