Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with sun-kissed honey tones and a hint of copper.

Nose

Sweet malty warmth, honey and toffee, with ripe orchard fruit and orange zest. Sherry-influenced richness weaves in dark raisin and almond, while vanilla and toasted oak lend a creamy roundness. A whisper of sea breeze and faint brine completes the coastal Jura aroma.

Palate

Silky, honeyed malt opens with vanilla and shortbread, revealing orchard fruits and citrus zest. A drizzle of toffee lingers as maritime salt and gentle oak spice lift the mid-palate, finishing warm, softly nutty.

Finish

Long, warming finish with sherry sweetness and toasted oak. Dried fruit, raisin and almond give way to spice and cocoa, ending in a silky, lingering glow that invites another sip.

Jura
(isle-o’-JEW-ra) Jura was founded in 1810 by Archibald Campbell, Laird of Jura, and was originally known as Small Isles Distillery. The island’s name is widely traced to Old Norse for “deer island”, with red deer still far outnumbering the human residents. The distillery was officially licensed in 1831, later passed to James Ferguson & Sons, and closed in 1901 before remaining silent for more than six decades.
