Reserva de la Familia® by Jose Cuervo is the family's most premium collection of artisanal small-batch Tequilas. Only the Estate’s finest up to 8-year-old agaves are hand-selected to make this 100% blue agave Extra Añejo Tequila. It is aged for a minimum of 3 years in the Cuervo family’s private cellar and combined with family reserves as old as 30 years.
For over 10 generations, Reserva de la Familia was a family secret only shared with the closest of friends. In 1995, to celebrate their 200-year anniversary, the family decided to share this exclusive extra añejo tequila with the rest of the world.
Each year the Jose Cuervo® family commissions a well-known Mexican artist to create a special edition design for its Extra Añejo expression in a unique collectible wooden box that is signed, hand numbered and wrapped. The 2023 collector’s box is the latest edition of custom art, inspired by a visit to Tequila, Mexico, titled “Structuring a Landscape”, designed by Mexican artists Gabriel Cázares Salas and Rolando Flores Tovar.

José Cuervo traces its roots to 1758, when José Antonio de Cuervo y Valdés was granted land to plant agave, and the brand’s formal commercial history begins in 1795, when Jose María Guadalupe de Cuervo received what Casa Cuervo describes as the first licence to produce and sell tequila. Another major milestone followed in 1812 with the founding of La Rojeña, which the company presents as the oldest active distillery in Latin America.
