Gold Medal Series (1954) – Bottle # 6
Released 2005
1954 would present the opportunity to add another award to the Jack Daniel collection as a whiskey competition was to be held in Brussels, Belgium…Jack Daniel’s whiskey went on to win the Star of Excellence, awarded to whiskeys for a “surpassing of excellence.” This commemorative bottle celebrating that achievement was released in 2005.
Beginning in 1996 and continuing for the next 10 years, the Jack Daniel Distillery released its Gold Medal Series of commemorative bottles. Comprised of seven unique designs, each bottle in this series celebrates a different gold medal won by the Distillery. In the U.S., the series featured 750ml bottles filled with 90 proof whiskey. International markets offer these bottles only in a 1 litre size, with the exception of the first bottle in the series which was available only in the 750ml size.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich, burnished amber with copper-gold hues and a honey glow.
Nose
Rich vanilla, caramel, and toffee rise from the glass, layered with creamy oak and a touch of citrus. Dried fruit and gentle spice—cinnamon and clove—add sophistication, while a faint char and warmth echo the whiskey’s Tennessee heritage.
Palate
Silky entry of vanilla and caramel unfolds into creamy toffee, lifted by toasted oak. Subtle orange zest and almond notes brighten the sweetness, while a gentle spice nods to the whiskey’s charcoal-mellowed backbone. Brown sugar lingers with a touch of cocoa, finishing long and warm with oak, leather and a refined, lingering sweetness.
Finish
Long, warm finish with smooth oak, whispers of caramel and vanilla, and a poised spice that lingers gracefully, leaving a polished memory of this commemorative bottle's heritage.
