Tasting Notes

Colour

Glowing amber-gold with coppery highlights and a bronzed edge, a natural, undiluted shade hinting at sherry-cask depth.

Nose

Opulent, concentrated nose of dark orchard fruits: fig, raisin and plum, layered with vanilla, toffee and burnt sugar. Sherry influence adds cocoa, leather and spices (cinnamon, clove), all riding a backbone of polished oak at cask-strength finesse.

Palate

Rich, full-bodied with a pronounced sherry influence, this Glenturret at cask strength coats the palate with warmth and depth. Dark raisin and fig mingle with toffee, cocoa and toasted almond, spiced by cinnamon and clove. The finish is long and velvety, revealing more fruit, a touch of leather, and a cocoa-dusted sweetness that lingers.

Finish

Long, warming finish driven by sherry influence, with raisin and fig sweetness giving way to dark chocolate, espresso and spice. Oak tannins linger softly, leaving a velvety, balanced tail.

Glenturret
(glen-TURRET) Glenturret traces its recorded history to 1763, when a rental document referred to Thurot Distillery, the earliest known name for the site. In 1814, the distillery was sold to Thomas MacInnes, who renamed it The Hosh Distillery, and the Glenturret name was introduced in 1873. Its history was not uninterrupted: production stopped in 1923 during the difficult years that followed Prohibition and the wider downturn in Scotch, before James Fairlie bought and revived the distillery in 1957 after more than 30 silent years.
