Glenturret Claxton's Single Cask Whisky 9 Year Old · 2009 Vintage
Out of stock
A curious peated version from the Glenturret distillery (Scotland's oldest working distillery) bottled by the Yorkshire based independent bottling company Claxton's.
Distilled 20th March 2009 and aged for 9 years in an American oak Hogshead.
More like a Funky Ledaig than a typical peated Highland malt and not your traditional Glenturret house style for sure!
One for the fans of heavily peated Islay.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark amber-gold with coppery highlights and a mahogany edge.
Nose
Vermouth-meets-mezcal aromas, herbal and mineral with oily, peaty smoke. Green peppers on a smoky barbecue, subtly joined by preserved cucumber in brine and a touch of caraway seeds.
Palate
Bold, sooty BBQ smoke coats the palate, with green vegetal and green fruit notes, cucumber pickle and mojito-like herbal freshness. A touch of chilli heat, singed garden herbs, and that vermouth-like note lingers.
Finish
Pithy, vegetal with green pepper heat, briny notes, mezcal-like lime, and a lingering wisp of sooty peat.
