Another sublime offering from the folks at Gordon and Macphail. A 56 year old, 1955 vintage Glenlivet, bottled under the old George & J.G.Smith livery. Part of their Rare Vintage Collection, this single cask whisky has been matured in a first fill sherry butt.
Aroma with Water - Sweet honey with rum and raisin aromas mix with orange marmalade and a touch of cinnamon.
Taste with Water - Peppery with almonds and a subtle menthol note. Apples, redcurrants, sweet toffee, and a lingering tobacco flavour.

Colour
Deep amber with burnished copper highlights.
Nose
Rich sherry and stewed fruit aromas mingle with rhubarb and prunes, layered with a subtle vanilla lift.
Palate
Smoky from the outset, sweet nutty flavours develop into a robust fruitcake core, finished with a delicate minty edge lingering on the palate.
Finish
A long, fresh finish with gentle smoke and nutty sweetness, followed by a lingering fruitcake note and a cool minty edge, with a final whisper of tobacco.
