Tasting Notes

Nose

Sherry-influenced nose of dark fruits—fig, raisin, plum—layered with toasted oak. Vanilla, toffee and cocoa mingle with warm spice, cinnamon and clove, delivering a poised, decadently aged aroma that hints at decades in the cask.

Palate

Opulent and full-bodied, it coats the palate with a syrupy, sherried richness. Dried fruits—raisin, fig, prune—meet orange rind, dark chocolate and espresso. Spices emerge—nutmeg and clove—alongside toasted oak. A long, warming finish delivers fruitcake sweetness into cocoa and vanilla.

Finish

Long, luxurious finish that lingers with velvety sherry sweetness, dark fig and raisin, and toasted oak. Warm spices and cocoa nibs persist, with a breath of orange zest fading into refined leather, leaving an enduring, softly spiced warmth.

(Glen AOL-bin) Glen Albyn was a Highland single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Inverness, founded in 1846 by James Sutherland, Provost of Inverness. Built beside the Caledonian Canal, the distillery had access to Loch Ness water and was located close to Glen Mhor, another lost Inverness distillery. Glen Albyn had a difficult early life, including a fire in 1849, periods of closure, conversion into a flour mill, and a full rebuild by Grigor & Co in 1884.
