A blended malt originally cooked up by William Grant, this was originally ‘distilled/filled’ in 1992, then aged in a refill hogshead. It spent the final eight years of its maturation in a pretty active 2nd-fill sherry hogshead.
The resulting 33-year-old whisky has been bottled at natural cask strength and offers a beautiful variation on the usual medley of fruits, honeys and waxes that this potion normally displays. The refill sherry influence adds a gorgeous dimension, bringing a wealth of nuts, tobacco, chocolate and wee earthy notes to the bargain.
Extremely delicious and moreish old whisky!

Tasting Notes
Nose
Green and yellow fruits, but also big notes of golden sultana, old Fins Bois cognac, mead and heather honey. Then herbal liqueurs, tiger balm and unlit cigars in a humidor. Lush!
Palate
Superbly honeyed and waxy, but also richer and more emphatically spicy than other Burnsides. Tobacco leaf, milk chocolate studded with seasalt, Dundee cake full of glazed pecans, malt loaf and hints of dry earth and rancio.
Finish
Long, leafy, mineral, earthy, gently waxy and with a lingering impression of crystalised honey and winter spices.
