Produced in the Pays d'Auge from bitter, bitter-sweet, sweet and sharp cider apples by double distillation in copper stills, VSOP is aged in small previously-used casks, including some former wine casks.

The blend also contains some sprits aged in former fortified wine casks, adding further sweetness and complexity. VSOP thus offers an appetizing fruitiness over ripe apple flavours, combining smooth elegance with the first hints of spices.

Tasting Notes:

Amber hue with copper highlights. Focused, inviting nose suggestive of ripe apple and tarte tatin. The palate reveals a crisp, focused and fruity Calvados showing lovely balance and persistence. Ideal as an introduction to the category.

Christian Drouin
Christian Drouin is a family-owned Calvados house in Normandy, with the business beginning in 1960 when Christian Drouin senior bought the Fiefs Sainte-Anne farm on the hills above Honfleur. He started distilling cider from the estate with the help of local distiller Pierre Pivet, building stocks for nearly twenty years before Christian Drouin junior joined the business and began commercial sales in 1979 with a stronger export focus.
