Royal Salute was created by Chivas Brothers in 1953 to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Its name refers to the 21-gun salute, and the whisky was launched as a 21 Year Old blend from the start, setting it apart from standard blended Scotch.

Royal Salute was created by Chivas Brothers in 1953 to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Its name refers to the 21-gun salute, and the whisky was launched as a 21 Year Old blend from the start, setting it apart from standard blended Scotch.

Now part of the Chivas Brothers portfolio under Pernod Ricard, Royal Salute is built around aged malt and grain whiskies sourced from across Scotland. The permanent range begins at 21 years old, with older and limited releases forming the top end of the collection.

Presentation has long been part of Royal Salute’s identity, especially its coloured ceramic flagons, first associated with the original 21 Year Old. The range includes the Signature Blend, Malts Blend, Blended Grain and higher-aged expressions, with a style focused on rich fruit, soft spice, honeyed sweetness and polished oak.
