Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber-gold with coppery hues, shimmering with a warm, honeyed glow.

Nose

Opulent sherry-driven aroma with orange zest, fig and prune, balanced by vanilla toffee. A quiet suggestion of peat smoke lingers over polished oak, giving a warm, decadent Speyside bouquet.

Palate

Silky, medium-bodied, with sherry-influenced sweetness and a roasted fruit core. Raisins and fig mingle with orange zest, cocoa and toffee, while a gentle veil of smoke and seasoned oak threads through the palate. Cinnamon and black pepper linger, finishing polished and long.

Finish

Long, refined finish of sherried fruit, dark chocolate and toasted nut spice. A gentle peat whispers through the sweetness, then fades to warm, lingering smoke with orange zest and polished oak, leaving a graceful echo of elegance and balance on the palate.

(ben-ROM-ach) Benromach first opened in 1900, and is situated next to the railway line in Forres, about 25 miles east of Inverness on the main route to Aberdeen. Like many distilleries that opened around this time, the distillery survived until the 1980s, but with many changes of ownership and extended periods of closure.
