Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with burnished copper glints and a mahogany depth, a warm, honeyed glow.

Nose

Soft honeyed malt mingles with ripe orchard fruit, opening to vanilla, caramel and warm oak. A subtle sherry-tinged layer adds dried fruit and almond notes, giving a vintage, well-kept Scotch aroma.

Palate

Silky and lightly sherried, with toffee and dried fruit sweetness guiding the sip. Notes of orange zest, almond, and a touch of oak mingle with gentle spice, delivering a refined, creamy mouthfeel. A warm, lingering finish evokes old-world elegance.

Finish

Long and warming, the finish unfolds with dried fruit—raisin, fig—carried on soft oak and spice. A whisper of orange zest and dark chocolate lingers, amplified by gentle sherry sweetness, fading to a warm, nutty remembrance.

Bell’s traces its roots to Arthur Bell, a Perth wine and spirits merchant who began vatting malt whiskies together in 1851 to create a more consistent blended Scotch. The “Extra Special” trademark was registered in 1895 and later appeared with the Bell’s name in 1904, becoming the basis of the long-running Bell’s blend. Blair Athol, founded in 1798, became closely tied to the brand after Arthur Bell & Sons acquired the distillery in 1933.
