Basil Hayden's Bourbon has a high rye content (30%)in the mashbill) which makes this drier and spicier than your average bourbon. It is incredibly easy going and would be a good introduction to the delights of the other Jim Beam range and a prelude to trying straight rye. A mellow and easy drinking Bourbon and a real mint-chocolate festival in your mouth.

Basil Hayden was created in 1992 by Booker Noe as part of Jim Beam’s Small Batch Bourbon Collection. It is named after Meredith Basil Hayden Sr., a Maryland-born farmer-distiller who moved to Kentucky and became associated with a higher-rye bourbon style. The brand keeps that link through a lighter, high-rye Kentucky straight bourbon designed to sit apart from the fuller, higher-proof styles of Booker’s, Baker’s and Knob Creek.
