Woodford Reserve Rye uses a preprohibition style ratio of 53% rye in its mash bill to pay homage to history’s original rye whiskeys, making spice and tobacco the dominant note among a sea of fruit, floral, and sweet aromatics, which yields a nice sweetness and overall balance.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a copper-gold sheen and a touch of mahogany. It glows with honeyed warmth, rich and inviting in the glass.
Nose
Spicy and rye-forward, with black pepper, cedar and cassia bark, lightly sweetened by a dusting of marzipan. Pear, apple and almond hint through the depths, adding brightness to a warm, honeyed core.
Palate
Clove, rye, mint, molasses, sorghum and honey mingle on the palate, with hints of apple and malt. A warm, layered sweetness rides spicy rye notes to a smooth, enduring finish.
Finish
Long, warm and sweetly spiced, with clove and rye lingering alongside molasses and honey. A gentle glow of almond and pear fades into a peppery, orchard-fruit finish that leaves a soft, alluring sweetness on the palate.
