Tasting Notes
Colour
This is a full-proof, non-chill filtered wheated bourbon, so it has a darker, more intense colour than standard Weller expressions. It shows beautiful legs and a deep, oily appearance in the glass.
Nose
Rich and inviting. Opens with sweet caramel, vanilla, and dark cherry, followed by toasted oak, baking spices (cinnamon and clove), and a touch of butterscotch. There’s also a lovely sweetness reminiscent of brown sugar and crème brûlée, with subtle dried fruit notes in the background.
Palate
Full-bodied and viscous. Heavy caramel and vanilla lead, balanced by toasted oak and a warm spice kick. Dark cherry, dried apricot, and a touch of orange zest come through, along with a pleasant nuttiness and a slight leather/tobacco edge from the oak. The mouthfeel is rich and oily thanks to being non-chill filtered and bottled at full proof.
Finish
Long and warming. The sweetness lingers with caramel and vanilla, while toasted oak, cinnamon, and a gentle spice build toward the end. It finishes dry and elegant with a pleasant Kentucky hug.
