A full bodied palate of mature oak, ginger and raisin flavours are complimented by a light mahogany natural colour.

Colour

A light mahogany hue with a warm, natural glow.

Nose

Treacle tart with stem ginger, soaked raisins and sultanas, lifted by a hint of orange and a touch of ground cinnamon.

Palate

Soft and rich, with dark chocolate-coated ginger, dates and dried apricots; balanced by oak and a lingering vanilla sweetness.

Finish

A lingering finish of dried fruits and ginger, tempered by toasted oak with a hint of vanilla, slowly fading into a warm, refined sweetness.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
