Tasting Notes
Colour
Golden amber, sunlit and luminous with honeyed warmth and a subtle coppery glow.
Nose
Bright orchard aromas lead the nose—green apple, lemon zest, pear, honeyed vanilla and delicate flowers—opening to a soft oak. In counterpoint, Mortlach offers a richer thread: fig and plum, toffee, cocoa, warm spice, and a sly note of leather. Together they present a balanced duet of light freshness and dusky richness.
Palate
Linkwood 1991: delicate orchard fruit, vanilla and honey, touched by waxy malt. Mortlach 1990: richer, with dried fruit, fig, toffee, spice and leather. Together they offer contrast—light, fragrant sweetness and a velvety sherried depth, finishing with warming oak and a hint of dark cocoa.
Finish
From Linkwood, a delicate finish of orchard fruit, vanilla, and citrus that glides to a soft oak fade. Mortlach brings a deeper, lingering finale—molasses, dried fruit, spice, and a whisper of dark chocolate, with a warming, lightly smoky tail. Together, a refined, two-layer finish that lingers in elegance and depth.
