Despite some cold spring nights, we started a late season with all the buds intact and warm weather quickly allowed the vines to catch up. Then a cool summer turned into a warm autumn and small, concentrated grapes ripened beautifully across all our ten parcels of chardonnay and pinot noir.

The 2021 vintage has produced a Blanc de Noirs that is at first fine and fresh in profile, but continuously unfolds with increasingly interesting aromas and flavours. First on the nose is a hint of ripe guava and the heady floral notes associated with it, a first for our wines. On the palate the wine feels more traditionally pinot noir with delicate raspberry and roast plum notes with a soft creaminess. There are underlying notes of something more ripe and exotic than you might expect from such a cool vintage, cherries and fresh figs with an ever so slight hint of sun-dried raisins.
