Cask maturation is what turns new-make into delicious whisky. The particular cask that is used, as well as, of course, the length of time it spends in said cask, has a huge impact on the resultant spirit. This tasting set lets you sample some of the less-usual casks that are used for maturation.

Tasting Notes
Colour
A shimmering spectrum of golden amber, spanning pale straw to deep copper.
Nose
Coastal smoke and medicinal peat mingle with vanilla sweetness. Caribbean cask notes bring banana, tropical fruit and warm toffee, while Sauternes and Madeira finishes add honeyed apricot, peach, raisin and nutty depth. The IPA cask contributes bright citrus hops and a crisp lift. A refined, multi-layered bouquet of smoke, fruit, sweetness and spice.
Palate
Across five drams, the palate journeys from Laphroaig’s coastal peat and iodine to Balvenie’s velvety toffee and vanilla. Arran delivers honeyed apricot, Penderyn Madeira adds raisin and spice, while Glenfiddich IPA Cask Finish threads citrus zest and hop bitterness through toasted oak, ending bright, bold and playful.
Finish
An elongated, evolving finish that lingers with distinction: peaty smoke from Laphroaig gives way to creamy vanilla and tropical sweetness from Balvenie, followed by Sauternes‑kissed fruit and Madeira’s raisined warmth, before a crisp, hop‑driven lift from the IPA cask. Oak, spice and a refined dryness taper to a memorable, lingering finale.
