Gin has to be flavoured predominantly with juniper to legally fit the description, but outside of that all bets are off. As well as the juniper used and the additional botanicals that might be added to the gin, it can also use whatever base spirit it likes (as long as it doesn't overthrow juniper as the predominant flavour). This tasting set, carefully curated by Gin Monkey, features gins which use neutral base spirit, grape spirit, apple spirit, single malt spirit and even unaged bourbon as the base.
