The whisky is made only from Speyside single malts, including spirit from Macallan, Mortlach and Glenrothes among others. This gives Scallywag a richer Speyside profile, with sherry influence, dark fruit, sweet spice and malt at the centre of the style.

Bottled at 46% ABV and without chill-filtration, Scallywag is presented as a small-batch blended malt rather than a standard blended Scotch. Spanish sherry butts play an important role in its character, bringing depth, colour and the rounded sweetness that has become central to the range.
