About Famous Grouse
The Famous Grouse is a blended Scotch whisky created by Matthew Gloag & Son in Perth, with the first Grouse whiskies launched in the late 1890s and The Famous Grouse name officially registered in 1905. Its red grouse label became one of the most recognisable designs in Scotch whisky, with the bird originally drawn by Philippa Gloag, Matthew Gloag’s daughter.
Now owned by William Grant & Sons following its acquisition from Edrington in 2025, The Famous Grouse remains one of Scotland’s best-known blended Scotch whiskies. The core blend is built around a smooth, approachable style of malt, dried fruit, soft spice, light oak and gentle sweetness, with the wider range including Smoky Black, Sherry Cask Finish and other limited or cask-led releases.
