Tapatio is the flagship tequila of La Alteña Distillery in Arandas, Jalisco, founded in 1937 by Don Felipe Camarena. The Camarena family has worked with agave and tequila for generations, and La Alteña remains one of the best-known traditional distilleries in the Jalisco Highlands. The name “Tapatío” is commonly used for someone from Guadalajara or Jalisco.
