Tasting Notes

Colour

Glowing golden amber with warm copper-bronze edges, sunlit and honeyed.

Nose

Waxy and coastal, the nose unfurls with citrus zest—lemon and orange—softened by honeyed pear and vanilla. A salty sea breeze and brine light the background, while beeswax, almond and gentle spice add a maritime, sun-warmed sweetness.

Palate

Waxen, silky texture coats the tongue, with lemon zest and green apple brightening the mid-palate. Subtle malt sweetness underpins a whisper of coastal brine and beeswax, while delicate oak and a touch of spice lend refinement. The finish lingers with citrus rind, almond and a softly saline glow.

Finish

A coastal, waxy sweetness lingers gracefully, with light brine and lemon zest giving way to soft vanilla and almond. Subtle oak spice threads through the long, elegant finish, inviting another sip.

(KLINE-leash) Established in 1819 by the Marquis of Stafford in 1819, Clynelish was one of the first purpose-built distilleries. In 1823, the distillery became legal under the Excise Act. Unfortunately due to the recession in 1931 the distillery closed and did not open again until the end of World War II.
