Tullamore D.E.W. takes its name from the town of Tullamore in County Offaly and from the initials of Daniel E. Williams, the distillery worker who rose from stable boy to distillery manager and later owner. The original Tullamore distillery was established in 1829, and Williams became the key figure behind the name that still appears on the label today.
