Black Tot takes its name from “Black Tot Day”, 31 July 1970, when the Royal Navy issued its final daily rum ration and ended a tradition that had lasted for centuries. The modern brand was created by Elixir Distillers, beginning with access to original Royal Navy rum stocks bottled as Black Tot Last Consignment, drawn from the last remaining flagons of naval rum.
