The brand’s first major releases were built around limited 14-year-old single malts, including the Creation Trilogy, with cask finishing playing a central role. Billy Walker, known for his work with BenRiach, GlenDronach, Glenglassaugh and GlenAllachie, helped shape these early bottlings through cask selection and finishing, using casks such as Oloroso sherry, Pedro Ximénez and Hungarian Tokaji.
Sazerac acquired Lough Gill Distillery in 2022 and confirmed continued development and global distribution for Athrú as part of the deal. In 2025 the distillery was renamed Hawk’s Rock Distillery, with investment focused on expanded production, warehousing and the wider Sazerac Irish whiskey portfolio.
