Angostura

Angostura began in 1824, when Dr Johann Siegert created his aromatic bitters in Angostura, now Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela. Originally developed as a medicinal tincture, the bitters later became closely associated with cocktails, food and professional bartending. In the 1870s, Siegert’s sons moved the family business to Trinidad, where Angostura grew into one of the most recognisable names in bitters.
