Angel’s Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Barrels is a rich and distinctive American whiskey from Louisville, Kentucky. Created around the principle of secondary cask finishing, it begins as a classic Kentucky straight bourbon before receiving an additional period of maturation in port wine barrels, bringing together traditional bourbon sweetness with layers of ripe red fruit and wine-led richness.
The bourbon is initially matured in new American oak barrels, where the wood develops its core flavours of caramel, vanilla, sweet corn and toasted spice. It is then finished for a further three to six months in port barrels. This second maturation adds notes of cherry, raspberry and plum, giving the whiskey a deeper fruit character without overwhelming the underlying bourbon.
The nose opens with creamy vanilla, caramel and sweet corn, followed by toasted oak and warm baking spice. As the whiskey develops, the port cask brings forward ripe cherry, raspberry and plum, creating a rounded and inviting aroma with a subtle wine-like richness.
On the palate, Angel’s Envy is smooth and velvety, combining caramel, vanilla and toasted oak with juicy red fruit and gentle spice. The sweetness of the bourbon remains clearly defined, while the port finish adds greater depth, softness and complexity. The finish is long and warming, with lingering cherry, blackberry and raspberry alongside vanilla, caramel and polished oak.
Bottled at 43.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle, Angel’s Envy Port Cask Finish Bourbon can be enjoyed neat, over ice or with a small amount of water. Its balance of bourbon sweetness and rich fruit also makes it an excellent choice for an Old Fashioned, Manhattan or premium Whiskey Sour.
