A fresh, fruity and floral release from Whitley Neill, this being their Blackberry gin tasting of plump blackberries and floral hedgerow

Containing a smooth flavour, with a core of delicious, piney juniper followed by zesty sweet citrus and hints of wonderful black pepper. The finish has a little earthiness alongside the warming spice of cassia.

Colour

Deep, glossy blackberry-purple with a rich garnet-tinged depth and a jewel-like, almost ink-dark sheen.

Nose

Juicy blackberry and bramble aromas mingle with hedgerow florals, lifted by zestful citrus. A piney juniper backbone threads through, with a whisper of black pepper and cassia, while a subtle earthiness grounds the bouquet.

Palate

On the palate, plump blackberry and hedgerow florals mingle with a piney juniper spine and bright citrus lift. A subtle pepperiness emerges, tempered by cassia warmth, while earthy notes weave into a long, refined finish.

Finish

Earthy and warming, with cassia spice lingering and a delicate peppery bite. Blackberry notes linger alongside piney juniper, while citrus adds a bright, perfumed fade that gradually ebbs into a clean, elegant finish.

Whitley Neill was launched in 2005 by Johnny Neill, an eighth-generation distiller whose family heritage in gin dates back to 1762. A major change followed in 2009, when Halewood acquired the brand, and another came in 2021, when production moved to the City of London Distillery, which the brand describes as the first and still the only gin distillery in the City of London in 200 years.
